When you move your event from a coffee shop to your mother in law’s home because it got too big, it turns into something pretty special. For two and half hours we named the body, and chatted about writing, womanhood, and everything in between. As always, their insightful questions were the best part.

I read poetry in Spanish, and an excerpt from the book translated into English by Robin Myers and published at Rio Grande Review in their “Blackout Edition/Edición Disruptiva” issue.

Llegué a Suju’s con un cesto lleno de libros y la ilusión y los nervios de conversar por primera vez en público sobre mi último libro. Me acompañaron amigas, y amigas de mis amigas. Escucharon, pero sobre todo, preguntaron y me ayudaron a desenredar la madeja que al principio supone reflexionar sobre tu propio trabajo.
